# LoyaltyLion: review and real cost

Loyalty points, rewards and VIP tiers, with a free plan up to 400 orders a month.

Verdict: Good, with caveats (5 of 8 checks). Rank 3 of 3 in Loyalty and referrals. Developer: LoyaltyLion. Listing: https://apps.shopify.com/loyaltylion

Stores under 400 orders a month can run it free, and bigger brands that want a managed program can ask for a quote [1][2]. The catch is that above 500 orders a month every plan is quote-only, and recent reviews complain about cancelling and price rises [2][6].

## Monthly cost

| Store size | Plan | Per month | Arithmetic |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300 orders | Free | $0 | 300 orders fits the free plan's 400-order limit [1][2]. |
| 2,000 orders | Advanced (quote) | Quote | 2,000 orders is above Classic's 500; Advanced and Plus are priced by quote [1][2]. |
| 10,000 orders | Advanced or Plus (quote) | Quote | 10,000 orders is far above Classic's 500; Advanced and Plus are priced by quote [2]. |

## Overview

LoyaltyLion runs points, rewards and VIP programs for Shopify stores. It has been on the App Store since July 2014 [1]. The free plan covers points, discount rewards, branding and analytics; Classic adds VIP tiers, POS support and Klaviyo flows [1].

## Pricing

Small stores pay nothing: the free plan covers up to 400 orders a month [1][2]. Classic costs $199 a month and includes 500 orders [2]. Beyond that, Advanced and Plus are quoted, so growing and large stores must ask for a price [2]. If you run more than 25% over your plan for three months in a row, LoyaltyLion contacts you about a new plan [2].

## Merchants

LoyaltyLion is rated 4.6 from 544 reviews [1]. Recent reviews praise flexible earning rules, easy use and helpful account managers [1]. Recent one- and two-star reviews describe hard cancellations, price rises and slow support [6].

## Data

Under Analytics > Exports you can download customer profiles, transactions, points, rewards, referrals and tiers as CSV files [5]. Some exports, such as audit events, need higher plans [5]. Data is hosted on AWS, encrypted at rest and in transit, and backed up for up to 90 days [4]. LoyaltyLion names a SOC 2 Type I audit, not a Type II report [4].
